Dr. Pier Giorgio Ardeni
Dr. Pier Giorgio Ardeni is a visiting Senior Fellow at SUNY/CID and the Director of the Centre for International Development at the University of Bologna, Italy. He is an economist specializing in macroeconomic management, economic policy evaluation, public finance and budgeting, regional development and local government, and public administration management. Dr. Ardeni has consulted and provided personnel training for projects implemented by the EU (TACIS, PHARE, and EUROSTAT), World Bank, UNDP, and other organizations in Cambodia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Mali, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Turkey, Ukraine, Yemen, Uzbekistan, among other countries.
Dr. Ardeni has extensive background in performing poverty assessments, analyzing poverty reduction strategies, and writing Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) Assessments for the EU, World Bank, and other organizations. He has published in several academic journals, including the Economic Journal, European Economic Review, and American Journal of Agricultural Economics, with a recent piece entitled “Issues for the Next Development Strategy for Statistics in Bosnia and Herzegovina” written for the London School of Economics Consortium. In addition, he has participated in several international conferences as an invitee and has authored or co-authored a number of books and collections of essays.
Dr. Ardeni holds a doctorate in Agricultural and Resource Economics and an M.A. in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Bologna, Italy.
