Robert T. Nakamura
Dr. Robert T. Nakamura is a Professor of Political Science and Public Affairs at the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy. He has over two decades experience in legislative development and public policy implementation in the United States, Africa, Latin America, Asia, and Europe. Dr. Nakamura has worked with SUNY/CID in several capacities, including with legislative assistance program evaluation, training and technical assistance, and program planning in Malawi, Zimbabwe, Jordan, Kenya, Uganda, Pakistan, Bolivia, and Chile, among other work.
Dr. Nakamura has consulted for USAID, UNDP, DFID, CIDA, the Inter-American Development Bank, the US General Accounting Office, the New York State Assembly, and other organizations. He is a co-author of USAID's Handbook on Legislative Development and the UNDP's Legislatures and Good Governance and How to Conduct a Legislative Needs Assessment. In addition, Dr. Nakamura has published three scholarly books and numerous journal articles including in the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, the American Journal of Political Science, Political Science Quarterly, Legislative Studies Quarterly, and the Policy Studies Journal.
Dr. Nakamura holds a doctorate in Political Science from the University of California at Berkley, where he also obtained his master's and bachelor's degrees and is the recipient of several policy research grants and contracts from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the U.S.E.P.A., the National Academy of Public Administration, the Ford Foundation, among others.
