Julia Demichelis is an urban planner with 20 years experience of capacity building in public sector and civil society, and in managing assistance programs in complex emergency and post-conflict reconstruction environments. Ms. Demichelis’ work experience includes design and oversight of national and community reconciliation programs; introducing mechanisms for promotion of accountability in socio-political transition; and serving as Chief of Party on parliamentary support projects.

 

Ms. Demichelis earned a Masters in Urban Planning in Disaster Preparedness and Planning from the University of Oregon, School of Architecture. Her overseas experience includes Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro/Kosovo, Slovenia; Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Morocco, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Swaziland, Togo, Zambia; Marshall Islands; Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Palestine.  She is a native English speaker, fluent in French, and conversational in Serbian and Albanian.
